What kind of wire do I need to use with UTP CCTV devices? |
Use Unshielded Twisted Pair, Category 2 or better, 16-24AWG, stranded or solid. Using a multi-pair wire (six pairs or more) with an overall shield is OK. |

Can Shielded Twisted Pair cable be used? |
We do not recommend using the Shielded Twisted Pair cable. The reason as below:
1. The Shielded Twisted Pair cable has high frequency roll-off will severely degrade the transmission distance performance.
2. It will compensate for some signal loss when using an amplified receiver.
But the Multi-pair wire (More than six pairs) can have an overall shield without degradation. |

Can the wire path has splices? |
Yes. We recommend designing CCTV systems in much the same way as phone/data systems are designed. You can splice the wire or use 66-blocks or 110-blocks to make connections. Video can be sent through a dozen of these connections without significant degradation. |

Can I transmit more than one video signal in a multi-pair wire bundle? |
Yes. The video signals can reside in the same wire bundle as multiple video signals, ringing telephones, Ethernet, DC12V, RS-422/RS-485, etc. |

Can video signals be sent in opposite directions within the same wire bundle? |
Please following the process as below:
1. When using Category 2 or 3 wire, do not send video in opposite directions within the same wire bundle more than 1000 inches.
2. With Category 5, do not send bi-directional video more than 2000 inches’. |

Can Category 5e or 6 wire be used? |
Yes. Our Balun device can be used with Category 2 or better UTP cable. |

Can I use spare pairs in an existing telephone system to transmit video using UTP CCTV devices? |
Yes. UTP CCTV is that the wiring for video can reside along with telephone system wiring. However, please be sure as blow:
1. To use “dry copper” pairs.
2. There should be no dial-tone, 48 volts, loading coils, bridge-taps or switching on the chosen pairs. |

Do EZLink product series can support broadband RF/VHF/UHF? |
Yes, EZLink product series provide the device, which uses the demodulators and modulators to convert to base band composite video. |

Can I transmit satellite or cable TV using EZLink product series? |
Yes, EZLink product series provide the device, which supports the wide bandwidth cable TV signal. |

Can EZLink transmit RS-422 or RS-485 signals? |
RS-422 or RS-485 signals are hard-wired between the P/T/Z equipment and are not transmitted or received by EZLink transceivers. The data signal may be sent on a wire pair within the same bundle as the video signal. |

Are EZLink CCTV transceivers rack mountable? |
Yes. The RMP-219 rack panel can hold up to two 4-channel transceivers. I-View multi-channel hubs are also rack-mountable and include the necessary hardware. |

Why choice the mini passiveBalun device? |
The reasons as below:
1. I-View provides compact Video Balun, which can plug into the camera and DVR directly.
2. The external coaxial jumper cable does not need for saving cost.
3. Reduce the problems, which cause the cabling.
4. Tool less design and maintain easily. |

When transmitting video between passive video Balun, the video is wavy and there is a dark bar that rolls upward on the monitor. Why? |
This is the result of a ground loop. Use an amplified receiver (which has built-in ground lifting), or remove the ground at the camera end. Be sure that floating the camera conforms to local/regional and National Electrical Codes. |

Why there is no video image after connecting DVR, but the video is good while into monitor directly? |
The video signal through DVR that the loss would be higher, the normal video decoder of DVR requests the input video signal must higher than 0.8Vp-p. You could use our following products for improvement.
1. Coaxial cabling: You can use our Video Enhancer AMP-100V or AMP-400V at the front of DVR.
2. UTP cabling: Please alternate the Passive Balun to Active type receiver ARX-100V or ARX-400V, which built in brightness and sharpness controls. If the transmission range is over 1Km, you could add one more Active video transmitter for long distance transmission. |

The reason to cause "Wave" image is from the power interference during transmission or the video transmission range is too big between 2 or multi channels to have the signal not balanced. For Coaxial cabling, you could add our new Product-CB001VH (Coaxial BALUN) for extra interference rejection. For Twisted Pair cable, you could use our TTP111VH (passive-short range type) or TTA111VH (Active-Long range type) to eliminate the interference. |
Why is there a double image in my video? |
Faint shadows of the original signal shifting to the right, or “Ghosting” occurs when there is an impedance mismatch along the wire. Verify that the monitor is terminated with 75Ω (not in loop-through). Check for and remove any bridge-taps (another wire pair connected to the wire run). |

Why the video image too bright or snow, wavy when using I-View's Active Balun products? |
Please correct the following two conditions as below:
1. The Active Balun products are designed for long-range transmission, the unit built in video amplifier function. If your transmission range under 300 meters, the video gain function is too high to have snow or wavy or bright image occurred. Please change the device from Active Balun to Passive Balun (Such as PTT-100V, PTT-100VP, PTT-130, PTT-400V or PTT-1600V) with range at least over 300 meters.
2. The Active Balun has “ multi-range distance switch" for different range transmission. Please switch to appropriate range upon your application to avoid any video image problem. |

Why does my video look like a scrambled Cable TV signal? |
This typically indicates reversed polarity. |

Coaxial cabling either Twisted pair cabling may have "Power Waving" interferences, that most from High Frequency (such as radio) or Differences in ground potentials are typically caused by unbalanced power line loads. Then you could add our "Video Ground Loop Isolator" to eliminate the interference.
Generally, it is not easy to find out where this kind of interference from, so we would recommend use monitor to check each connecting point (between two wire connection), to find out where is the source of interference.
To block the interference from electromagnetic wave, high voltage electricity, wireless station, with Video Transformer Filter function. That you could use our coming soon video isolator. |
How to protect CCTV equipment destroyed from high voltage surges from nearby lightning strikes? |
Using I-View’s EZLink CCTV Transmission products. All EZLink products have build in the surge protection function (Except PTT-100V, PTT-120V, PTT-100VP, PTT-400V and PTT-1600V). We need to have the surge protection device on the both site of Camera and DVR equipments.

Will RF interfere with the video signal when using EZLink CCTV Transmission device? |
No, EZLink device is highly immune to interference. CAT 5 UTP twisted pair wire can immunity the RF interference. But the high power (signal noise ratio) RF signal would occur the video interference, neither coaxial nor twisted pair cabling transmission. There three solutions to solve this problem:
When use Coaxial cable: Using Our CS-700RS RF modulator to avoid this problem. I-View's RF modulator allows works with high voltage cable at a time.
When use UTP cable: The most I-View's UTP devices provide the highly immune to interference. That is, the equipment is only concerned with the voltage difference between the two conductors. RF or other fields’ will still couple into the conductors,
but will do so in each conductor equally. This Common-Mode signal is ignored by the I-View equipment, which has a 60 dB Common-Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR).

How do I position the PRX-400PVD with customers? |
First, the customer needs to understand the I-View PVD solution and its benefits. The PRX-400PVD Solution is a key component in the PVD system and is not well positioned on a standalone basis. Once the customer has agreed to a structured cabling based CCTV network and is on-board with the benefits of analog cameras and transmission via PVD, the PRX-400PVD will add significant value in simplifying the installation.

Will this unit deliver enough power for Fixed and PTZ cameras? |
With up to DC12V/1.5A Amp per channel, (AC28V/3.57A or AC24V/4.17A aggregate) the PRX-400PVD has the power to drive almost any indoor CCTV network. Generally cameras with outdoor heaters and blowers draw more than 1 Amp, which exceed the rating on RJ45 contacts. Each channel can be switched to 28VAC, allowing extended cable distances when needed. It is important to follow our calculator http://www.i-view.com.tw/support/calculate_cable.htm for power at distance to ensure a system performs to specification.

How is the PRX-400PVD different from a POE (Power over Ethernet) device? |
POE devices are designed to power IP network devices such as IP cameras. Although the PRX-400PVD follows the same EIA/TIA 568B structured building wiring and pin outs, it delivers 24/28VAC while POE supplies 48VDC power. The PRX-400PVD is designed to power conventional analog cameras and pass analog video and control signals.

Will the PRX-400PVD receive video signals for direct connection to control and recording equipment? |
The PRX-400PVD has a 4-channel passive receiver hub built-in. This feature is equivalent to the PTT-1600V passive receiver hub and means that when connected to an I-View’s PVD passive transceiver, video signals can be received at distances up to 300m. This means that UTP video signals can be received and be directly connected via coax BNC output to a DVR or IP video servers.
