1. Inserting more than one card is not supported since the current all of I-View product? |
 |
All of I-View DVR can support more than one card up to 16 or 32 cameras input, please refer to the website: http://www.i-view.com.tw |

2. Windows 98 uses the FAT32 file system, while Windows 2000/XP/Vista also supports the NTFS file system. Which file system should I use? |
 |
Each file system has advantages and disadvantages
to them.
What are the advantages of NTFS over FAT?
*Is journaled, decreasing data loss.
*Allows larger volume sizes (greater than 1TB).
*Resistant to fragmentation-Performs better on volumes ~20GB and more.
What are the advantages of FAT over NTFS?
*Performs faster on volumes ~10GB and less.
*Works well with small disk cache and system cache (less than 96MB systems).
What are the disadvantages of NTFS?
*Suffers with small cache (less than 96MB systems).
*Suffers with slow disks and controllers.
*Is less space-efficient on small volumes (less than 4GB).
What are the disadvantages of FAT?
*Gets slower as the number of files on a partition increases.
*Slows as volume size increases, because drive must constantly reference the file allocation table at the beginning of the volume.
*FAT tends to highly fragment files. |

3. System has stopped recording and showing
disk space low. |
 |
It possible cause for the error is corrupted
database files. User should then exit the main system
application and execute the repair Database Utility -
"Add / remove storage device" icon from
"Storage configuration" to repair the database so the
recording may resume normally. |
 |
4. What kind chipset of Motherboard request when I using Witness Pro system? |
 |
The Intel chipset is strong recommended. |
 |
5. What is the recommended Windows picture quality for I-View software? |
 |
I-View were all designed in a 24 bits or above
environment. Setting the system to a lower quality can
result in screens that are cut-off, so be sure to set
your screen to 24 bits and 800x600 or 1024x768
resolution before using your software. |
 |
6. There is too much noise while the system is running. |
 |
Check CPU, cooling fan of power supplier in the
system. Cooling fan might make much noise as it
goes on with much dust on it. You should clean up the
dust on the fan and case. Aged HDD might make
much noise. Aged HDD might have heat, dust,
external shock, or too much saving. They will give
damage to the HDD. If this damage is severe, it can
make much noise or break up. |

7. Witness XP /FreeView Pro program can be executed however some parts of right and down side of the screen are cut out. |
 |
Execute "Display properties" by double-click on
"Control panel" or right-click on windows desktop.
Select "Settings" tab on "Display properties" and then
make sure it is set for (800x600 or 1024x768)
resolution and more than 24 bits true color. |
 |
8. Miscellaneous precautions when installing your system. |
 |
1. Make sure that the Capture Board driver is correctly
installed. (Control Panel>>System>>Device
Manager>>Sound, video, game control).
2. Be sure to choose the correct NTSC, PAL when
installing your program. Check the cables
connection on the capture board. 5. Check the
connection on the cameras.
3. Make sure the camera functions properly.
4. When possible, avoid using software that resides in
the RAM. Especially, vaccines can be potential
problems.
5. Turn off screen savers when using the program.
(Control Panel-Display-Screen saver).
6. Turn off energy savers when using the program.
(Control Panel-Display-Power).

9. System will not shut down. |
 |
Press the Power button for 5 seconds then system
will shut down. |
 |
10. Some parts of image screen looks blue and seriously corrupted. |
 |
From the place where back part of DVR Camera is
connected, switch the location between normal
camera and abnormal camera. If the abnormal screen
continues to look weird, camera is the one that
causes the problem. Contact the person who
installed your camera. But if the screen was
switched from normal to abnormal then, contact our
customer support center. |
 |
11. How much capacity of HDD should I have? How many partitions or drive should I have? |
 |
Each drive should have more than 3GBytes and
Strong recommend to have the partitioned up to 2
(X drive). One device for the O.S. installation.
The other for saving the video clips. |
 |
12. Occasionally, hard disk space is found low, even though cycle recording is set. |
 |
When the hard disk is fully occupied, the oldest files
will automatically be overwritten by small portion.
From then, it is normal that the hard disk space will
always be low at a certain level (Same as your
setting). It will not overwrite the hard disk by large
portion since we want to keep the recorded videos for
as long as possible. |
 |
13. We have problems with camera connected to the and the picture of some cameras with Al or manual iris-lens are very bright. |
 |
If you have found that your camera pictures are too
bright, please adjust the camera setting from the
Witness Pro program. If the problem still happen,
please change the camera brightness level, or call
the camera dealer. |
 |
14. Virtual memory is found low after a several days of operation? |
 |
When you run Witness Pro program, it will
automatically occupy all the CPU resources.
However, when you reboot the O.S., it will release
the Virtual memory. Since we are using the schedule
reboot function on the Witness Pro software to avoid
this issue. |
 |
15. Which PTZ camera are supported by the Witness XP and DigiCap II? |
 |
Our current software supported PTZ cameras as
below:
1. Pelco P
2. Pelco D
3. Lilin (PIH)
4. Kalatel
5. NiceCam
6. Fastdome
7. NC-080AZ PTZ Receiver.

16. What kind soundcard and microphone request when using audio recording? |
 |
Please do not use the software soundcard such AC 97
and the output level of Microphone over 2 Vp-p is
strong recommended. |

17. Which type of camera do you recommend for Witness Pro DVR? |
 |
There is no special camera requirement for Witness
Pro DVR as long they are as either PAL or NTSC
composite cameras (not both at the same time). |
 |
1. There is a "Please open camera(s)" error message while I run the Witness Pro program on Windows XP SP1 version? |
 |
The problem cause the 24bits (32bits) of VGA
display while you use the XP SP1 version, the
problem will not happen when you use the old
XP version or XP SP2 version. You can
upgrade the newest version of XP SP2 version
from the website of Microsoft to solve this
problem. Or you can download the file from:

Select the correct language then download and install it on your PC. |

2. There is a "Open database error" error message while I run the Witness Pro program?

The problem cause the Database program not
installed, please install the “Access Runtime“
database program from the CD-ROM. Or download it

3. There is a "Video/audio capture can not find"
error message while I run the Witness Pro program? |
 |
1. Make sure that the Capture Board driver is
correctly installed. (Control Panel >> System >>
Device Manager>> Sound, video, game control).
2. Make sure that the Watch dog cable has been
installed between the Capture Board and
Motherboard. |
 |
4. What are the recording capabilities of the card in frames per second and how is this spread across
the four inputs? |
 |
I-View provides several DVR model base on
difference recording rate. For example CP-400AS
Plus, the maximum recording frames per second is
30FPS (Frame Per Second). However, if you record
all the four cameras simultaneously, the recording
frame rate will become 7.5FPS. |
 |
5. How to setup the Witness Pro DVR to allow the remote client PC viewing via IE Browser? |
 |
Please run "EZWebServer" programand then enable
"Hide Window" and "Enable auto run system"
function.

6. What type of codec is used in the Witness Pro
DVR for the compression of images ? |
 |
The compression codec is MPEG4, Wavelet and
Motion JPEG select by user. |
 |
7. Computer keeps getting rebooted after startup between 2 min. 30 sec. |
 |
The Witness Pro DVR is designed for being rebooted automatically when DVR site program is not executed by Watch Dog card within 3 min. Therefore, make sure to execute Witness Pro DVR program. |
 |
8. What are the differences of RGB and YUV image signals? |
 |
RGB signaling refers to the method of dividing an image signal to the fundamental three colors (Red, Green and Blue) when processing the signal. It has the advantage of good color division and conveyance, but the disadvantage of requiring at least 3 color (24bits) division data.
YUV signaling refers to the method of expressing an
image signal by the vertical and horizontal signal
synchronization (Y), and its color signals (U, V). Color
division and conveyance qualities are inferior compared
to the RGB method, but the YUV method can express
more diverse colors using less image data.(16bits)
The choice of both methods are available on DVR.
RGB images will have clearer color but more 'blocks'
on the images, while with YUV images dividing
between colors can be more difficult but you will get a
more smoother looking surface from them. |

9. What can be done about dynamic IP? |
 |
Currently in the world, dynamic IP systems are more
popular than fixed IP systems, including many of the
ADSL and Cable modem systems, meaning that the
IP address will change frequently.
I-View provides ID code the function instead of the
dynamic IP address whenever the system starts, the
Witness Pro will register the current IP address to I-
View’s IP identify server per hour. You can use this ID
code to log-on to the Witness Pro DVR system. |

10. There is any special setting while I upgrade
the newest Witness Pro program? |
 |
It is no any special request when you upgrade the
newest software on the Witness Pro DVR. |
 |
11. I can not search the video clips while I run the
playback program of Witness Pro program? |
 |
The problem causes the system shutdown abnormal,
please click "Storage configuration" tab, "Add /
remove storage device" and then reboot the
Witness Pro program. The system will repair the video
clips automatically. Maybe you need to wait for a
while to repair the video clips. |
 |
12. While I add (remove) HDD from the Witness Pro
DVR, I can not playback the video clips? |
 |
The problem causes the index of video clips has been
changed, please click "Storage configuration" tab,
"Add/remove storage device" and then reboot the
Witness Pro program. The system will be re-index the
video clips. |
 |
13. How can I calculate the HDD storage capacities
of DVR? |
 |
14. Can I playback Witness Pro recording video file with Windows Media Player or some other type of video player? |
 |
Recorded video is stored in original format is AVI file
so it can be played back with our Playback Software
or Windows Media Player |
 |
15. Please provide bandwidth information for the following. |
 |
For one camera transmission at resolution of 320*240
with 30fps base on MPEG4 Compression, the
bandwidth requires is approximately 600Kbits/sec. |
 |
16. The phone can not hear the warning voice? |
 |
The telephone can accept the format of Wave file is
8000 Hz, 16 Bit, Mono only. So please check the
wave file of notification meets the request or not.

17. Should I download the Active X while I using
the IE Browser to view the image of Witness Pro
DVR? |
 |
Please download the ActiveX while your first using the
IE Browser view the image of Witness Pro DVR. Or
Start Browser >> Tools >> Internet options >>
Security >> Please change the "Security level" to
low >> Click "OK" to load program. |

18. Witness Pro DVR program disappear after few hours running and left without any message. |
 |
Turn off Windows System Restore will solved this issue.
To turn off Windows XP System Restore:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.

3. Click to select the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.

4. Click Apply.
5. When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm that you want to turn off System Restore:

After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box will show as:

6. Then click on OK.
To turn off Windows Vista System Restore:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.

3. Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side

4. Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up.

5. Under the System Protection tab, find Available Disks.

6. Uncheck the box for all drive to disable system restore on.
7. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click "Turn System Restore Off" on the popup window to do this.

8. Click Yes.
9. When you have finished, restart the computer and follow the instructions in the next section to turn on System Restore.

19. How to turn off the User Account Control ( UAC) from Windows Vista/7 O.S. |
 |
1. I have set up a firewall and I cannot access the
live video of Witness Pro DVR via FreeView Pro? |
 |
You must open the TCP/IP port number same as the
setting TCP/IP port of Witness Pro video server. After
this process, you will be able to access the live video
from FreeView Pro via the firewall. |
 |
2. How do configure an http or an ftp server for use with the Witness Pro DVR software? |
 |
We have included a sample web page using Active-X
plug-in with the Witness Pro software. Just run the
EzWebServer program on your machine and change
the corresponding IP address, user name, password
and the other parameter. The detail setting please refer
to software operation manual. |

3. What is the TCP/IP port number for Witness Pro (XP)? |
 |
You can change the TCP/IP number from Witness
Pro, FreeView Pro and EzRServer program. The
default TCP/IP port number of these programs as
below:
Witness Pro: 1001
FreeView Pro: 1501
EzRServer: 1901
Web server: 80

10. What type of PDA can remote view the video

The Witness Pro DVR supports the Pocket PC PDA
device only. |

11. Connection window does not progress when
trying to connect to the Center (TCP/IP case). |
 |
This happens when IP address from Site is not
correct. In this case, Center has to search for IP
address for about 30 seconds. It does not mean that
the Center was shut down so please reconnect to the
correct IP address after waiting a little while.

12. Connection has failed when trying to connect to Center (Telephone Modem case). |
 |
First, check to see if both of Witness Pro DVR site
and Remote clite PC's phone line is operation
normally. Then, check the modem has been enable on
the modem function on both of DVR site and Client’s. |
 |
13. Site image will appear black after connecting to the Witness Pro DVR. |
 |
In order for FreeView Pro software to work properly,
remote client PC's VGA must be more than 16MB.
Please check the PC's information. |
 |
14. How to use the IE Browser to remote download video clips when using the Vista O.S.? |
 |
Please follow up the steps as below to remote download the video clips.
Step1, Run IE browser and then entry the URL or IP address of DVR. You can refer to I-View URL page http://livedemo.i-view.com.tw , It will pop up the Information Bar as below, please click "Close" icon to continue.

Step2, The Windows will warn the message of download ActiveX program. Please download it and then click OK icon.

Step3, The IE will block the ActiveX download, please click on the warning bar and then choice the "Install Active Control" item to continue the process.

Step4, Select "Always install software from I-View Communication Inc." item and then click on "Install" icon. Wait for a while to download the ActiveX program.

Step5, Click on the "Internet Options" of "Tools" from Tool bar. Select the "Security" tab and choice the "Trusted sites" item, and then click on "Sites" icon.


Step6, Please uncheck the "Require server verification (https: ) for all sites in this zone", and add the URL or IP address of your DVR, which you want to download video clips from this site. Click the "Close" icon and restart IE.

Note:
When the Internet Protected Mode is on , this is Protected Mode from IE 7 status bar, the URL or IP address does not add on Trusted sites; the download video files will be redirect to User\Temporary Internet Files\Virtualize\
When the Internet Protected Mode is off , the download video clips will save under C:WebClips.
Step7, Entry your URL or IP address of DVR, which you want to remote connection. Click "Connection" icon from "Right site" tool bar of main screen.
Full fit the information (Please refer to the window as below) such as IP address, user name and password, and then select on "Remote download". Click the "Connect" icon to start "Remote download" video clips.

Step8, It will show the window as below when connection is successfully.
Select the period for the remote download and then click "Search" icon.

Step9, Check on the box which video clips that you want to download. Right click on item to select "Start download".

Step10, You will find out the video clips from the path as below, when the download process is completely:
C:\WebClips\Site_Name\CameraNN\YearYYYY\MonthMM\DayDD
For example, C:\WebClips\Livedemo\Camera01\Year2007\Month09\Day11
