i-View surveillance solution for the Indonesia refinery

Mission

Background

Indonesia is one of the oil export country in the world. Oil refineries generate a high value of output annually. However, the safety is the primary issue. The whole area has to be under control at any time. It means the resistant and powerful surveillance system is demanded.

The refinery looked for i-View surveillance solution, but there are three difficulties pending to be solved.

1.Cameras at certain area have to be explosion-proof and withstand high temperature.

2.The refinery plans to install both analog and IP cameras.

3.The distance from the hub site to cameras is more than 1000m, and there are fisheye, box camera, dome, and speed dome.

4.For safety reason, the customer does not want to have AC power line for all cameras.

5.Power may be unstable in the area.

Solution

Oil refinery is a hazardous area, where risk of explosion and high temperature may occur without warning. The surveillance system is required to operate properly at any circumstance, so that emergencies can be captured without loss.

In this difficult condition, i-View installed a box camera in the 316 stainless steel housing, which has the element called molybdenum that resists the corrosion and explosion. The refinery has proved that the flame and high temperature would not affect the operation of the surveillance system. Undoubtedly, this solution ensures the stable surveillance work at the refinery.

To combine IP camera and analog camera in the same network, i-View delivered Hybrid DVR to the refinery. i-View Hybrid DVR helped the refinery set IP cameras and analog cameras altogether in the same network. The Hybrid DVR was connected to the hub which all IP cameras were connected to. At the same time, all analog cameras are connected directly to Hybrid DVR through coax cable. In this way, the hybrid system is established and can operate smoothly.

The distance of 1000 meters from hub site to camera site is a tough issue. Fiber is one of choices, however, it is expensive. i-View suggested the refinery install the transmissions (model number:EPoC-131VA / EPoC-131PS) to amplify the transfer ability. With i-View transmission, data and PoE can be transmitted over coax cable with the maximum distance of 1500m. i-View also advised them to run coax cable by daisy chain. The benefit of running daisy chain is that one cable comes from the switch can spread the cable run by using connector. Therefore, one cable coming from the switch can connect to multiple cameras. In this case, there were fisheye, box camera, dome, and speed dome at the site.

It seems easy the way long distance transfer was solved. Actually, i-View transmission is powerful and consistent, so that it can transfer stable power and signal to multiple cameras.
